Note: Japan's refund-based Tax-Free system (pay the tax-inclusive price first, then receive a refund after customs confirmation) starts on November 1, 2026. Under the current Tax-Free system (until October 31, 2026), eligible shoppers pay a tax-excluded price at the store. Under the Tax Refund system (from November 1, 2026), you will pay the tax-inclusive price first and receive the eligible tax refund after customs confirmation when departing Japan.
